I do feel that ToX2 is superior to Tales of Xillia, especially in terms of story, but it does retread a lot of ground. It reuses most of the environments from ToX. At least now you can dash through areas.

I kind of miss giving items to shops to level them up, though that would have been repetitive too. As a result, you collect a lot of meaningless junk. You can sell it, but that’s, like, work

I like to think that Elle is still out there. Both of them. And maybe both Millas, as well.

Going back to ToX2 after a few years is more complicated than I thought it would be, because ToX improved in my eyes slightly after reviewing it. I still like ToX2 better because, as sadistic as it sounds, the game is more willing to hurt its characters. The edgier and darker character chapters are my favorites of those. Tales of Xillia 2 Part 15: Elite Beast Agents

The peoples’ requests on the job board give deep insight into their lives. Take the description for the elite beast Exoplasma: “I didn’t know grapes could move on their own before! Life teaches us so much.”

Whoever wrote or transcribed these descriptions had too much fun.

Exoplasma is creepy-looking and annoying. It’s a gimmick fight where you can only really kill it by hurting the clones it creates. Every time it creates clones, it loses HP. Then, you have to finish it off with a Mystic Arte when it only has one HP left. Every other kind of attack heals it otherwise.
